Preview your changes

After your first Individual subscription — which you complete using the Subscribe button as described on How to subscribe — almost every subsequent change to your plan, billing interval, or AI word capacity passes through a screen called Preview your changes before Wordscope applies it.

This page explains that screen in full. It describes what you see in the summary at the top, what Charged today means in practice, what Next invoice tells you about your future renewal, and how to confirm a change with confidence rather than surprise.

Preview your changes

Preview your changes is Wordscope’s confirmation step whenever you modify an active Individual subscription. Instead of applying a plan change, a billing switch, or an Extra Volume adjustment silently, Wordscope first shows you a detailed summary of what you selected and two financial views: what you would pay immediately if you confirm, and what your next regular renewal would look like once the change has fully taken effect.

You reach this screen by making your selections on https://pro.wordscope.com/subscriptions.php under the Individual tab — clicking a different plan, toggling monthly or yearly billing, or changing Extra Volume — and then clicking the Preview your changes button. Only after you have read the summary and both financial sections should you click Confirm.

Preview is used for upgrades, downgrades, billing switches, and Extra Volume changes. It is not used for your first subscription (Subscribe handles that), for cancellation (which you confirm directly on your plan card), or for viewing History, Billing info, or Usage. The Managing your subscription page explains which action uses which workflow.

What you see at the top of the Preview page

Before Wordscope shows you any amounts, the Preview page summarises your cart in plain language so you can verify that you selected exactly what you intended. This summary is easy to skim but worth reading carefully, because a wrong plan click or an unintended billing toggle is much easier to correct here than after you have confirmed and paid.

You will typically see a line indicating whether your plan is changing — for example “Silver → Gold” — or whether it remains unchanged because you are only adjusting Extra Volume or billing. You will see your billing interval, Monthly or Yearly, and whether that interval is changing immediately or scheduled for the end of the period. If you adjusted Extra Volume, you will see your current block of additional AI-assisted words and the new amount you selected.

The page may also display Notes in a highlighted area. These notes explain, in the context of your specific cart, that today’s charge is prorated based on the number of days left in your billing period, and that downgrades and decreases take effect at period end rather than immediately. Read them even if you have read this documentation page, because they translate the general rules into the particulars of your situation.

When you combine several changes: If you upgrade your plan and increase Extra Volume in the same cart, Charged today may include prorated charges for both. If you schedule a plan downgrade but increase Extra Volume at the same time, the volume increase may charge today while the plan downgrade waits until period end. Preview shows the combined outcome so you can decide whether to proceed or adjust your selections.

Charged today

The Charged today section shows you what Wordscope will bill you immediately if you click Confirm on this Preview page. In most cases, when you are upgrading or increasing something, this section displays a prorated invoice for the remainder of your current billing period rather than a full month or full year at the new rate.

Think of Charged today as answering the question: “If I confirm right now, what do I pay today to make this change happen for upgrades and increases?” When you move from Silver to Gold, Wordscope calculates the price difference between the two plans and charges you only for the days that remain until your next billing anniversary. When you switch from monthly to yearly billing, a prorated charge appears here because yearly billing is treated as an upgrade. When you increase Extra Volume, the cost of the additional words is also prorated for the time left in the period.

The section includes a table with individual line items — your plan, any Extra Volume, applicable tax — and a total at the bottom. You do not need to calculate proration yourself; Wordscope derives the amount from your current plan, your selected change, and the number of days remaining in the period.

There are situations where Charged today shows nothing, or displays the message “Nothing (no invoice).” That is normal and expected when you are only making changes that Wordscope defers to the end of the period. If you downgrade your plan, switch from yearly to monthly, or decrease Extra Volume, you will not receive a credit or refund today. Those changes appear instead in Next invoice, which reflects your lower recurring cost from the following period onward. Do not interpret an empty Charged today as an error in those cases; it means no immediate payment is required.

A practical way to read this section: Before you click Confirm, ask yourself whether the amount in Charged today matches your expectation for a partial-period charge. If you upgraded mid-month, the figure should be noticeably smaller than a full month at the new plan price. If it seems too high or too low, pause and compare with the Notes on the page or with your recent invoices in History before confirming.

Wordscope never confirms a negative charge: If a combination of changes in your cart would produce a net credit — a negative total in Charged today — Wordscope rejects the Preview and asks you to adjust your selections. You cannot confirm a change that would result in a negative invoice.

Next invoice

The Next invoice section shows you the details of your next renewal invoice — that is, the bill Wordscope will issue at the start of your next billing period once all the changes in your cart have fully taken effect. Where Charged today answers “what do I pay right now,” Next invoice answers “what will my normal recurring subscription cost going forward, after this change is completely in place?”

The heading of this section usually includes the date on which that renewal invoice will be issued, worded along the lines of “Next invoice (will be issued at the start of the next billing period on …).” That date is important because it tells you when your current period ends and when any deferred changes — such as a scheduled downgrade or a reduction in Extra Volume — will finally apply.

In this section you will see the plan tier that will govern your subscription after the change, the billing interval (monthly or yearly) that will apply at renewal, the amount of Extra Volume that will be included if you adjusted it, any tax applicable in your region, and the total for one complete billing cycle at the new configuration. This is the figure you should use when budgeting for Wordscope on an ongoing basis, because it represents your steady-state cost rather than the one-off prorated charge that may appear in Charged today.

The relationship between the two sections depends on whether you are increasing or decreasing. When you upgrade your plan or increase Extra Volume, part of the cost appears in Charged today as a prorated amount for the remainder of the current period, and the full recurring amount appears in Next invoice for every subsequent period. When you downgrade your plan, switch from yearly to monthly, or decrease Extra Volume, Charged today is usually empty because Wordscope does not refund or credit the unused portion of the current period. Instead, the lower price appears only in Next invoice, starting from the billing period after the deferred change takes effect.

If you already had a downgrade scheduled before you opened this Preview, Next invoice may show the lower tier even though you are still on the higher tier until the current period ends. If that is not what you want, click Restore [Plan] on your current plan card before confirming other changes, then run Preview again so both sections recalculate. If your subscription is set to cancel at period end, Next invoice may display a message such as “No base subscription upcoming invoice” rather than a normal renewal total, because no further renewal will occur after cancellation.

A practical way to read this section: After you confirm an upgrade, Next invoice is the number that should match what you expect to pay every month or every year from the next period onward. After you confirm a downgrade, compare Next invoice with what you pay today on your current plan to verify that the reduction matches your intention, remembering that the lower price does not apply until the current period ends.

Deferred changes need patience: When Next invoice shows a lower amount but your current access and allowance feel unchanged, that is correct. Downgrades and decreases keep your current configuration until period end. Next invoice describes the future, not the present.

Confirming your changes

Confirmation is the final step. You should click Confirm only when you understand both Charged today and Next invoice and when both figures match your intention. After you confirm, upgrades and increases take effect immediately, while downgrades and decreases remain scheduled for period end and your current access continues until that date.

1️⃣ Make your selections on https://pro.wordscope.com/subscriptions.php under the Individual tab — plan, billing interval, or Extra Volume as needed.

2️⃣ Click Preview your changes and wait for the summary and both financial sections to load.

3️⃣ Read the cart summary at the top and confirm that every line reflects what you intended to change.

4️⃣ Read Charged today and decide whether you are comfortable with the immediate payment, or whether an empty section correctly reflects a deferred-only change.

5️⃣ Read Next invoice and confirm that the ongoing renewal cost fits your budget once the change is fully applied.

6️⃣ Read any Notes displayed on the page about proration and period-end scheduling.

7️⃣ Click Confirm. If Charged today is not zero, complete the payment step that follows.

8️⃣ After confirmation, open the Usage tab to verify your allowance if you changed plan or Extra Volume, or open History if an immediate charge was made and you wish to download the corresponding invoice.

If a downgrade was already scheduled: Click Restore [Plan] on your current plan card before confirming other changes when you want to stay on your present tier. Then run Preview again so Charged today and Next invoice both reflect your updated intention.

Cross-check with History: When Charged today shows an immediate amount, the invoice that appears in History after confirmation should match. See the History section on Managing your subscription.

Quick reference — which section shows what?

The table below summarises how common changes appear on the Preview page. Use it as a reminder, but always read the actual figures on your Preview screen before confirming, because your specific dates and proration amounts depend on your account.
