Dividing Large Translation Projects Among Multiple Translators

When faced with a large translation project, efficiency and collaboration are key. You can effortlessly split your project into as many parts as needed and assign each part to a different colleague.

Each part, or “chunk”, is automatically allocated an equal number of words, regardless of the number or type of files included, ensuring a balanced workload.

This collaborative setup offers significant benefits. Since all translators participating in the project are working online and in real time, each translator gains instant access to their colleagues’ work—be it terminology entries, fuzzy matches, or other valuable resources.

Team Collaboration

In addition to dividing the project, you have the option to create Teams.

By assigning a project to a team, all members can take advantage of the integrated internal messaging system to communicate and collaborate in real time.

Splitting a Project

During the initial analysis phase, you will see a Split button that allows you to specify the number of parts into which you want to divide the project:

You will then be prompted to specify the number of parts you want to divide the project into, choose 2, 3, or any other number:

Next, click Check to adjust the word count for each part, and then click Confirm.

Wordscope will generate a unique URL for each part of the project, which you can send to the translators participating in the project:

Note: You can always retrieve these URLs later on the List Projects page (choose List Projects / Open from the Project menu):

Working on the Part of the Project Assigned to You

Every translator participating in the project will have access to the entire project; however, any part not assigned to them will remain in read-only mode. This approach ensures that while the translation memory remains fully accessible to all team members, the integrity of individual assignments is preserved.

By leveraging these robust features, Wordscope not only simplifies the management of large translation projects but also fosters a collaborative environment that elevates quality and consistency throughout your work.

Changing the Number of Parts During a Project

If at any point during a project you decide to change the number of parts, you can do so easily:

1️⃣  Open the project.

2️⃣  In the Project menu, Click Analysis to load the Analysis page.

3️⃣  Click the Merge button to undo the current division.

Once merged, you can split the project differently if desired.

Warning: Make sure to notify all project participants, as this will cancel the existing project access URLs and generate new ones!
